RBM –   Reinforced Bitumen Membranes. A material made with 2-3 layers of a waterproof felt.  Once applied they are normally then coated with Shingles or gravel. Once the most traditional flat roof covering it now deemed dated and is being used less frequently.

Single ply – A polymer usually made from PVC.  A thin material that comes in huge rolls. 1 or 2 of which are normally sufficient to cover a whole roof.  It is also one of the easiest to apply as it does or require torch or asphalt for installation.
